Loudoun South Little League is an ALL Volunteer organization and asks all parents to volunteer in some capacity but if you feel you can't volunteer we ask for voluntary donations in lieu of helping directly. LSLL would not be able to gives kids a great baseball experience if it wasn't for the help of all of our volunteers. In the course of any given season we have many areas where volunteers are needed. Please note that LSLL reserves the right to charge $125 for any volunteer who does not fulfill their obligation during the current baseball season.

Team Manager or Assistant Coach *
Being a manager or coach requires time, patience, and basic knowledge of the game. You may be required to attend meetings, instructional sessions, or seminars. You will communicate with the parents/guardians of your players to inform them of any schedule changes, events, and activities.
The manager is the head coach and is ultimately responsible for the team. The manager drafts the team (in tryout divisions), schedules and plans the practices, organizes team volunteers (coaches, team parent(s), scorekeeper, team umpire, game coordinator, etc.), coaches the team, and is the primary contact between the league and the team.
A coach helps the manager coach the team and performs any other duties assigned by the manager.

Umpire *
Aside from calling balls or strikes, safe or out, umpires are responsible for teaching players good sportsmanship and the rules of the game. LSLL uses trained youth umpires (12 years old and older), adult umpires, and team umpires to help officiate games in Minor and Major divisions. Youth umpires are compensated. Training is offered before each season, and the league provides all of the required umpire equipment at no charge.
Team Umpire *
LSLL requires all teams to identify at least one team umpire in the Minors Division. Team Umpires help coordinate the game to enforce rules of play, safety, and sportsmanship. The Team Umpire is positioned in the field to officiate and is usually partnered with a youth umpire that is assigned the plate. Training is offered before each season, and the league provides an umpire shirt and hat at no charge. Team Umpires are compensated with a credit to be used for a future registration, if they work at least seven (7) games in the spring or six (6) games in the fall.
Game Coordinator *
The Game Coordinator is an adult volunteer required by Little League International to be present during a game that is umpired by two (2) youth umpires.
Team Scorekeeper *
The scorekeeper is the person designated to keep score during the games. Each scorekeeper is also allowed to double as a bench coach if the Manager is short a coach during a game.
Little League rules require a coach to be in the dugout at all times.
Concession Stand *
Throughout the season we maintain two concessions stands - one each at Byrnes Ridge Park and one at Lions Field. These concession stands provide revenue to the league which we use to keep registration fees low. Each stand requires 2-3 adults to operate efficiently. If this volunteer option is picked, each family is required to provide 2 hours of time to the stands. This roughly equates to the length of one baseball game.
Sponsorship/Fundraising
LSLL is always looking for individuals interested in helping us acquire league sponsors and supporting other fundraising activities.
Field Maintenance
Be start of each season, and at periodic times during the season, the league has a need for volunteers to maintain our fields and facilities. Duties might include repairs to equipment, raking/prepping fields, replacing equipment, moving supplies to fields, etc.
