At Loudoun South Little League, we are proud to offer a robust Girls Softball program alongside our baseball divisions. We are currently pouring resources and energy into expanding this program, with a singular vision in mind: building a powerhouse community that supports our local girls all the way to a Little League Softball® World Series run.

Overview

Divisions are formed based on age, skill level, player evaluations, and, in some cases, Little League regulations. Below is an outline of each division, the corresponding league ages, and the qualifications that determine player placement.

For New Families: If you are new to Loudoun South Girls Little League Softball, please provide as much background information as possible during registration, including previous leagues, levels played, and years of experience. This helps ensure accurate player placement.

Player Placement Decisions:

• All placement decisions are made at the discretion of LSLL Player Agents. Questions?
• Player Agents also serve as advocates for all players in the league.

Tee Ball Overview

• Beginner-friendly – perfect introduction to baseball
• Safety-focused – uses a softer tee-ball and batting tee
• Skill development – teaches fundamentals in a fun, engaging way
• Low-pressure environment – no scores are kept, and games are shorter
• Community involvement – strong participation from players, coaches, and parents
• No tryouts required – open to all eligible players

Tee Ball Eligibility & Placement Guidelines:

• League Age 5: All players in this age group are eligible
• League Age 6: Eligible only if they have not played Spring T-Ball before
• No exceptions – placement follows official Little League regulations
• Team requests (e.g., to play with a friend) may be considered at the Player Agent’s discretion

Double A Softball:
Designed to bridge the gap between instructional play and full competitive softball. The focus remains on player growth, confidence, and understanding the game, while introducing more advanced rules and game situations.

• Introduction to player pitching, with continued instructional support
• Strong focus on fundamental skill development: throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, and base running
• Emphasis on learning game awareness and positioning
• Limited base running to support player development and safety
• Scores and standings are kept
• End-of-season tournament
• Mandatory player evaluation and draft

Triple A Softball:
Prepares players for Majors by reinforcing fundamentals while increasing game speed, competition level, and player responsibility on the field.

• Full player pitching
• Continued advancement of defensive skills, hitting approach, and base running
• Introduction to more situational play (cutoffs, rundowns, backing up bases)
• Competitive environment with an emphasis on equal opportunity and development
• Scores and standings are kept
• End-of-season tournament
• Potential All-Star play
• Mandatory player evaluation and draft

Majors Softball:
Intended for experienced players who demonstrate strong softball skills, game awareness, and competitive readiness. The division emphasizes high-level play while continuing to develop sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership.
